CMRC, Education Program in Iquitos-Peru.

The last two weeks of December, the girls were having their final evaluations. We, as always, have been monitoring their scores. Unfortunately, Isabel, who had already been getting low grades in some courses, disapproved her subject of “Logic”.

I want to emphasize that from the beginning, the moment that the girls accept the scholarship, they sign the document with the clauses that make it clear that the scholarship recipients must maintain optimal academic performance throughout their professional development process.

From the moment we noticed she was getting low grades in some subjects, we talked to her and reminded her of the clause to maintain acceptable grades. The program attended to all her materials requests, but she did not get a good result in that subject. We also asked her if there was any additional family or personal situation that could be affecting her academic performance, and encouraged her to make an effort.

I also want to mention that I have talked to Isabel’s sister, who has been traveling many times to the border area with her family and has left Isabel with her bother, living with him and his family. When I talked to her, I let her know that although the CMRC scholarship program is responsible for the financial expenses generated by Isabel’s studies, her tutor (in this case, her sister) must also be attentive to Isabel’s study process. It doesn’t mean neglecting the family’s emotional needs and the progress of her studies.

Despite that, she failed the subject of “Logic”. When we asked her what had happened, she said that she was not good with numbers, logic or math. Then, we talked to her and encouraged her to make an effort to maintain an acceptable grade since this is part of the requirements of our program.

On the other hand, the Institute has a date for a makeup exam so that students who have failed a course have the opportunity to retake and pass the courses; but there is a fee for the exam.

Therefore, it was also made known to Isabel and her sister that the payment for the exam is their responsibility due that the fact that the Program does not cover the cost of makeup exams. Isabel’s sister made the payment for the exam, and as a result, Isabel passed the course.

At this point, I want to mention that this situation will help Isabel and her family become aware of the responsibility and effort she must put into her studies.

In Sindi’s case, she passed her exams and is ready to start next year’s semester. She also had a course with a low score at the beginning of the semester, but after an effort, she improved her courses.

Paxi has finished the six academic semesters, and she will now take the English course, which is a requirement to complete the academic process and be able to graduate. She wrote the following words:

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the CMRC Scholarship Program for the support provided during my academic training. The last semester of my studies represented a particularly demanding and complex stage, mainly due to the greater financial investment and expenses required by the practical work carried out in each course. These practical activities required materials, supplies, and other resources which, many times, posed a challenge, causing ups and downs in the classroom (the whole class) when these materials were requested without prior notice or at the time of the class. Despite this, and thanks to the help of CMRC, I did my best to answer to the Institute requests, constantly striving to respond to the request responsibility and commitments, even when not all the team member in my classroom could contribute what was needed on some occasions. Thanks to organization, perseverance, and constant commitment, I was able to properly handle each situation, achieving compliance with the requirements of each course. In this way, I was able to successfully complete all academic activities and finish all the periods, passing all of the courses.
Therefore, I consider it important to express my deepest gratitude to the CMRC Team, which was a fundamental pillar in the development of my academic studies, providing me support and guidance throughout the entire training process. Finally, I reaffirm my commitment to continuous learning and to the ethical and responsible practice of the profession I have chosen.

Finally, we want to inform that Rocksy now has a new advisor for her project, Lic. Nelly García Flores, who was assigned on December 15, 2025. She will start the verification of the new project when the academic year begins in January 2026. The new title of Rocksy’s project is: “Knowledge and Preventive attitudes about whooping cough among the Nursing Technical Staff at the Loreto Regional Hospital, 2025.”

I hope that the Lord continues using us according to His purposes and all this for His glory. May God continue blessing our lives in this new year. Happy and blessed 2026, a hug to each one of you!

Sincerely,
Karen Rojas

  • Please pray for our friends in Cuba.  The US has stopped all oil from Venezuela and Mexico from reaching Cuba so they are experiencing a lot more problems and hardships.  As a mission we will need to look at the situation carefully as Douglas Springer plans his next trip to Cuba.  The challenge is that Pastors need the support we provide, but can he get it to them.

  • Pray for Karen and her family in Peru. Pray for the girls and their families. Pray that God continue using Karen as an instrument of His love and mercy during 2026.

  • Pray for the girls’ families, for their provision and protection.

  • Pray for new students to join our program in Peru.
