Update on Studio A Construction in Guatemala Bible Seminary

Our last newsletter was sent out just after we had completed 90% of studio B, the smaller of the two studios.   Since that time, the entire studio B, as well as the office, has been completely painted and the door to studio B has been installed.  Cesar has been collecting furniture for studio B, and it is now ready to use.

Studio A (the larger of the two) is progressing with the walls completed and painted.   Flooring is next and the lighting set up as well as the editing equipment to be purchased.

Doug Springer is planning on being back in Guatemala in late May or June to purchase more equipment which should complete both studios.  September is the planned date for the dedication of both completed studios.

“September is the date for the dedication of both completed studios.  Please watch for the specific date and other information if you are interested in attending.”

Peru-Young Women’s Education Program Update

Karen Rojas reports:
This has been a quiet month for the girls.  Rocksy is successfully finishing her three years of studies in the Technical Career of Nursing.  Presently she is working on her basic English course without difficulty which she needs in order to graduate.

Paxi has completed her second year of Pharmacist Associate.  Now in her third year, classes are going well.  This first month was mostly theory, but over the next few months they will start again with practicals, and to do this, some material and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required.  It will be purchased when their practical classes begin.

Sindi has also started her classes without difficulty.  She is in the Process of Adapting.  The courses that she is taking this first cycle are Anatomy, Introduction to Technical Nursing, and Epidemiology.

We thank the Lord because we know that He gives wisdom to the girls so that they have a learning process and professional training without difficulty.

I am conducting personal interviews for new students.  I always consider inviting a professional (depending on the area to which the girls apply) so that they can give an evaluation from their perspective; they ask the questions and I provide them with areas to consider to evaluate the girl.  However, I personally ask questions to the potential grant applicants as well.

Praying Request:

  • Pray for our Ministry.
  • Pray for Rocksy who is in the last stages of getting the technical title.
  • Pray for Paxi and Sindi and their classes for this new academic semester.
  • Pray for the Tamayo Family, the girls and their family were having some health difficulties.
  • Pray for our new scholarship girl Isabel Torres Malafaya; she will be starting her studies in August.
  • Pray for our second call to find one or two more girls for our program.
  • Pray God continues using us as an instrument of His love and mercy and that we can help people, as it is possible.

I confidently trust that God will continue to fulfill His promises and purpose in us every day.  Please keep us in your prayers.

Sincerely,
Karen

CUBA

Doug Springer will be going to Cuba on April 3rd to visit with pastors and take support as well as many items that are needed such as laptops, medication and toiletries.  Please pray for safety and electricity while he is there.  Again, two weeks ago the whole island was plunged into a blackout for more than a day.  Almost daily there are blackouts around the country for up to 24 hours.  With fuel in short supply, transportation is also not only expensive but difficult to arrange.  Doug will travel to Havana, Santa Clara and Cienfuegos on this trip.  Thank you to the many people who gave items to take, as well as financially to purchase supplies to give to the pastors and churches.

prayer RequestS

  • Pray for Doug Springer as he travels to Cuba from April 3rd to 12th.  Pray for safety and that he will be a blessing to the pastors and churches we work with.

  • Pray for Karen as she mentors the young women and looks for a job to help support herself.

  • Pray for the pastors in Cuba as they minister to their congregations during difficult times.
